How often should I update my llms.txt?
There's no fixed expiry date, but it's worth redoing whenever something important changes: you launch new pages, change what you offer or rework your message. Since it doesn't update itself, the practical move is to regenerate it here and upload the new version after any big change to your site. If your site barely changes, an occasional review is enough.
If I already have a sitemap, do I also need an llms.txt?
They do different jobs and work together. A sitemap (sitemap.xml) is a technical list of all your URLs for search engines, and a single file can hold up to 50,000 addresses. An llms.txt is a short, curated pick of your most important pages, with a summary, made for AIs. This tool uses your sitemap as a starting point, but the final llms.txt is shorter and focused on what you actually want them to understand.
