Frequently asked questions
What is structured data?
It's code (usually JSON-LD) you add to your site to tell Google and AI what each thing is: a product, an article, a business… It helps them understand you and, in some cases, show rich results.
What's the difference between an error and a warning?
An error blocks the rich result (something required is missing or the code is broken). A warning is a recommendation: it works, but it'd be more complete if you add it.
Do you validate the same as Google's test?
We apply the same required and recommended field rules Google publishes, plus schema.org validity. For the definitive official check you can also use Google's Rich Results Test.
Why do you warn that FAQs no longer show?
As of May 2026 Google stopped showing the FAQ rich result. Your FAQ schema is still valid and useful for AI, but you won't see the dropdown in Google anymore.
Do you store my site or my code?
No. The tool is single-use: we analyze on the spot, show you the result, and store nothing. We don’t ask for an email.
But do AIs actually understand you?
Good schema helps. Surfeo measures whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention your business and tells you how to improve.
