Structured data
What does validating your schema mean, and why does it matter?
Validating your schema means checking that your page's JSON-LD code follows schema.org and Google's rules. A schema with errors is useless: neither Google nor AI tools can read it, the same way a form with required fields left blank gets rejected.
Structured data is a set of hidden labels that tell a search engine what's on your page: this is a product, this is its price, these are the reviews. Done right, Google can show rich results (stars, prices, questions) and AI tools like ChatGPT or Perplexity pick up the facts with more confidence. Done wrong, the search engine quietly ignores them and you lose the edge without noticing. That's why you validate before publishing: the validator tells you which required properties are missing or wrongly set. One caveat: passing validation doesn't guarantee a rich result. Since 7 May 2026 Google no longer shows the FAQ one, though the markup is still valid and other engines and AI tools keep reading it.
Frequently asked questions
What is structured data?
It's code (usually JSON-LD) you add to your site to tell Google and AI what each thing is: a product, an article, a business… It helps them understand you and, in some cases, show rich results.
What's the difference between an error and a warning?
An error blocks the rich result (something required is missing or the code is broken). A warning is a recommendation: it works, but it'd be more complete if you add it.
Do you validate the same as Google's test?
We apply the same required and recommended field rules Google publishes, plus schema.org validity. For the definitive official check you can also use Google's Rich Results Test.
Why do you warn that FAQs no longer show?
As of May 2026 Google stopped showing the FAQ rich result. Your FAQ schema is still valid and useful for AI, but you won't see the dropdown in Google anymore.
Do you store my site or my code?
No. The tool is single-use: we analyze on the spot, show you the result, and store nothing. We don’t ask for an email.
My schema is valid but I'm not getting rich results in Google. Why?
A valid schema only means the code is well written; it doesn't force Google to show a rich result. Google decides when and to whom it shows one, and it usually takes days or weeks after it crawls the page. Some types no longer produce a rich result even when the markup is correct: FAQs, for instance, stopped showing in May 2026. Also check that the marked-up content is visible to the user and that you're not breaking Google's policies.
Can I validate JSON-LD before publishing it on my site?
Yes. The page doesn't need to be live: you can paste the JSON-LD block directly and we'll tell you whether it meets schema.org and if any properties are missing. That's the smart order: check the draft code, fix the errors, then publish it clean, instead of going live and finding out later that Google ignores it. Once it's online, you can re-check it by pasting the URL.
What types of structured data should I add to my site?
It depends on your business. For a small business the most useful are usually: Organization or LocalBusiness (who you are, where, phone and opening hours), Product with price and reviews if you sell something, Article for your blog, and BreadcrumbList for breadcrumbs. Only add schema for content that actually exists on the page; marking up data the user can't see breaks Google's rules. Start with one or two types, validate them, and add more over time.
